Empirical benefit

Phyllanthus niruri is empirically used for liver health and detoxification, kidney health and urinary tract issues, anti-inflammatory and pain relief, digestive health, boost immunity, and treat infections, among other uses. Health benefits of each herbal composition of Phycentin

  • Phyllanthus niruri is widely used in traditional medicine for a variety of health conditions. It is considered to have strong antioxidant properties, which help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. In Phycentin, Phyllanthus niruri contributes to boost the immune system due to its properties as an immunomodulator.

  • Centella asiatica has a broad range of traditional uses in Indonesian medicine. In Ayurvedic medicine, Centella asiatica is widely used as a brain tonic to improve neural function, learning, and memory. In Phycentin, Centella asiatica is effective in enhancing memory function due to its properties as a brain tonic.

Proven effective for improving cognitive function based on literature studies data

  • Phyllanthus niruri has antioxidant flavonoid that can be used as free-radical scavengers.3 Based on literature study in rats, it demonstrated the ability of Phyllanthus niruri extract to mitigate the sensorimotor and cognitive deficit due to its flavonoid constituent. Another study in mice also shows its ability to improve memory and cognitive function caused by brain damage due to oxidative damage induced by 10% ethanol.

  • Centella asiatica demonstrates remarkable cognitive, neurotropic and neuroprotective effects. Based on literature study in rats, it showed that the ability of C. asiatica to affect brain functions, as well as its efficacy as a brain tonic, probably through the action of active metabolites that may reach the brain and induce the positive modulations. Other study in rats also shown the anticholinergic and antioxidant effects of Centella asiatica extract due to the presence of Asiatic acid and Madecassic acid, which not only provide neuroprotection against age-associated cognitive decline but also improve the cognitive function. The effects also confirmed by clinical study that shows the administration of Centella asiatica for 20 weeks has an effect on increasing semantic fluency and visual memory in elderly women with dementia.

  • Based on the literature studies above, it can be concluded that combination of Phyllanthus niruri and Centella asiatica are effective in improving cognitive function.
