Sauropus androgynus, Coleus amboinicus
Lactalan
Lactalan is an herbal medicine that contains Galatonol, an extract obtained from a combination of Sauropus androgynus leaves and Coleus amboinicus herbs. Both plants are well-recognized in Indonesia for their galactagogue effects. Galatonol has been proven in vivo to stimulate the release of prolactin and oxytocin, resulting in increasing breast milk production.
Lactalan is available in film-coated tablet form, containing a precisely formulated dose of 300 mg of Galatonol.
A Brief Introduction to Our Product
As the main active ingredient of Lactalan, Galatonol is derived from Sauropus androgynus leaves and Coleus amboinicus herbs. Both herbals have a long history of being traditionally used to enhance breast milk production. Moreover, the galactagogue activity of Galatonol has been proven through in vivo studies resulting in higher breast milk production in lactating female rats as well as increased prolactin and oxytocin secretion.
Product Functions
Besides empirical evidence, Lactalan has been preclinically proven to increase breastmilk production through pharmacodynamic studies of Galatonol, its main active ingredient. In an experiment involving lactating female rats, the administration of Galatonol resulted in a significant increase in breast milk production compared to the untreated control group (p < 0.05). This increase also positively impacted the body weight of the pups. Additionally, the levels of prolactin and oxytocin increased significantly in the treated groups when compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Accordingly, the increase in breast milk production was associated with the increase in prolactin and oxytocin secretion.
Regarding safety, both acute and subchronic oral toxicity studies of Galatonol have been conducted. The findings revealed an LD50 value greater than 5000 mg/kg BW, suggesting that it is a non-toxic substance. Furthermore, repeated administration of Galatonol for 90 days did not lead to any abnormalities or toxicity signs in the animals tested.
Thus, Lactalan has been shown to effectively enhance breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers by promoting the release of prolactin and oxytocin, while being safe when used at the recommended dose.
