Based on literature studies, the acute toxicity of Andrographis paniculata extract administered alone in rats was investigated by Chandrasekaran et al. in 2009. The study found that administering Andrographis paniculata extract at doses up to 5000 mg/kg of body weight did not result in any signs of toxicity in the test animals. Therefore, Andrographis paniculata extract can be classified as safe. In another acute toxicity study involving rats, the ethanolic extract of A. paniculata herbs combined with G. procumbens leaves was categorized as unclassified (>2000 mg/kg body weight) in terms of toxicity levels according to the Globally Harmonized Classification System. The results indicated that exposure to this combination did not cause any toxic symptoms, and no animals died as a result. A histological examination of the liver showed no significant damage, even after exposure to a dose of 2000 mg/kg body weight. Additionally, there were no notable changes in clinical observations related to the skin and fur, mucous membranes, respiratory system, circulatory system, somatomotor system, eyes, autonomic system, or behavior. All test animals remained normal, and no abnormalities in behavior were observed in any treatment groups.
